Logan's Participation in Preschool - May 2015

The less notes I get from the school, the better I feel. They do write about the good things he's done too (I love to read about those).

It seems that Logan has had a lot of issues with concentration. He can't focus and his mind tends to go somewhere else. I've noticed this about him his whole life. I thought it was weird that he never really could focus on thins as a baby. Having said that though, he's smart and very bright. That makes me happy. Hennie had mentioned that she thought he may be too bright and that the things they do in small group is boring for him.

They continue to tell me that he's very interested in cleaning. While other kids will thing they want to help out and clean, they get disinterested after 5 minutes. Logan can spend the whole play time outside cleaning and he loves to help clean inside too. If only he had that motivation at home! hehe

One day while I was visiting, Angie came up to me and told me she had forgotten to write me a note and started to tell me what happened...

While she told Logan to stay in one area (I can't remember why), he walked away staring at her smiling and pulled down his pants to expose his bare butt to her while still smiling.

I was shocked. He had never done that at home. I felt embarrassed and upset. I had a talk with him after school and explained to him how that was very rude of him and it was unacceptable. I told him that we don't treat people that way. That's not a nice way to express his feelings. I asked that he apologize to the teacher the next day.

The next day, I reminded him to apologize and when I picked him up, the first thing I asked is if he had apologize, Chelsea looked at me and said "Yes, he did". I went to double check with Angie and she was writing me a note. She said she was so touched by his apology and that it meant so much to her. Ever since this incident, he hasn't really gotten into much trouble. I think that he realized what he did was wrong and what reaction he got from the apology made him happy.

One day, I got a note saying he cut his hair with his scissors. I laughed cause I recall doing that as a child (older than him). I ran a razor on my hair right above my bangs. Yes, I had a bald spot smack in the front. Pretty huh? Wish I had a photo lol. Anyway, he was so worried that he would get in trouble. He was quiet the whole ride home. I sort of felt bad for him. I explained to him that he's not going to get in trouble for cutting his hair. We're just concerned about his safety and that he shouldn't cut other things than the paper the teachers tell him to cut. I explained to him that scissors are sharp and it's not safe.

He no longer makes a big fuss when I leave so I'm happy about that. It only took him 5 months! haha and in a few months, he'll be leaving soon for kindergarten (just when he's warmed up to everyone. :(

Logan - 5 Years

Wow, I can't believe it's already 5 years since Logan was born. I know, I probably say that " I can't believe...." thing every time one of my boys get older lol.

It's amazing how much they talk at this age. I see him thinking about certain words before he speaks too like he wants to make sure he's using the correct word and saying it correctly.

In just a few months, he will start kindergarten and it hasn't hit me yet. I'm still thinking he's 4 years old. He tells me he's going to be a really good boy because he's 5 now and he's a "big boy" now. I sure hope so baby...

This year his birthday party was not too hot and not too cold. It's been challenging having a May birthday because the weather is so unpredictable. We had a jump house (as usual), water guns, water balloons and I made a Lego PiƱata (at his request).

Auntcyne's awesome volcano cake!

Connor trying his best!

Cousin Dominic steps in!

The day after his birthday party, I took him out for some photos.

On his actual birthday, I made 48 Mint Oreo Cupcakes for his friends at school. We also went out for a birthday lunch!

Dustin - First Tooth

Dustin turned 9 months on May 5th. I've been watching him drool and feeling for sharp edges on his swollen gums. It seems to be taking it's precious time! Yesterday on May 20, 2015 (which happens to be his Auntie Syndi's birthday!) I got a call & text from the baby sitter that he has a fever. I immediately made an appointment to see the doctor because I have been wanting to check his ears since he finished his medication for his ear infection a couple of weeks ago. Or was it the week before. Oh my memory is letting me down!

Anyway, I touched his gums and actually felt sharp edges! Poor baby. He's usually such a happy baby but he was grumpier than ever. His fever was low grade about 99.4 but he sure was warm. I notice him more fussy a few days ago after picking up from the baby sitter's. His drooling was more than usual. He didn't nurse well. Every time he's fussy or something is off... there's so many "what if's".

What if he's teething?
What if he's pulling his ear and scratching because of teething?
What if he's pulling his ear and scratching because of the eczema?
What if he's fussy because he's got a minor cold?
What if.....!!!!

This drives me crazy! I have 3 boys and I still do the "what if's" with all 3!

The good news is his ears look better. Dr. Leu said that it takes about a month for it to look normal after the antibiotics.

At Kaiser's waiting area

At Kaiser
He definitely was drooling more than usual. He didn't want any of the cold things I gave him for comfort. :( He fought the medication and he just looked so miserable. My happy baby. Miserable.

Too cold!

I tried to take photos of his gums but he's not having it plus it's barely visible.

Sometimes his eyes are partly open when he sleeps (creepy!)
With breast milk leaking haha

A better photo on 5/27/15

You can see his tooth in the below photo (10 months - 6/5/15)

Dustin - 9 Months

Dustin's 9 month visit was a surprise. First of all, I thought he was getting shots. Glad to hear he didn't have any. Then I found out he had an ear infection. What? That's the first. His older brothers never had it. The doctor said it was up to me if I wanted to give him antibiotics because he'll put the prescription on file so I can pick it up if he gets worse but I got it right after. He asked if Dustin pulled his ear. Well, sure... and he scratches it because he has eczema and broken skin behind ears. He is also teething so I thought tugging at the ear was normal. He didn't have any fevers so I didn't think anything of it. Turns out, they don't always get all the symptoms I hear about... He hasn't slept well since February. Has he had it for that long? *gasp* He's had a cold after cold after cold... his brothers keep bringing germs home from preschool.

9 Months - May 5, 2015
Weight - 19lb 14.2oz 54.84%
Height - 2' 6.24" (30.24") 98.44%
Head - 18.15" 80.94%

Dustin has been rolling over frequently since March. He's drooling a lot but still no teeth yet.

I've been putting him down on the mat for play time so he's been practicing crawling. He started off with falling when trying to move around. Then he would scoot around because when I left and came back, he's somewhere else... not too far off. I've seen him try to reach for toys and fall flat on tummy. Just a few days ago I saw him on his hands and feet with butt in air like a downward facing dog (yoga pose). Yesterday, he was actually on his hands and knees rocking back and forth. I believe he will start crawling soon! The problem with putting him down isn't because his brothers might run into him now... it's Pano (our cat). Pano loves to sit next to him. More specially, rub himself all over Dustin and it grosses me out when the butt end is in his face! Dustin loves Pano. He screams in excitement and touches him and is just so excited to be near him. He's also highly allergic to him! More so than his older brother Logan. His face and hands would break out in hives (little bumps) but his eczema also flares. I'm stuck on what to do next.

Scratching as soon as skin is exposed!

He's eating solids wonderfully. I'm still only giving him oatmeal cereal. I tried pears last week and he liked it however his eczema got worse. I couldn't tell if it was because of that or the cat (UGH)... so I'll wait to feed him something else again. It seems his skin is the most sensitive out of all the boys :(

He's very ticklish and has the cutest laugh! He's been blowing bubbles out of his mouth. It's especially funny when he does it while nursing. At this age, everything they do is cute!

He had surgery on May 1st to fix a penile adhesion. I was so scared because he had to get general anesthesia and I've never had it and you hear horror stories about babies not waking. Plus, he's had an ongoing cold which got worse that morning! We arrived at Kaiser at 6am (so early) in Folsom. The doctor and anesthesiologist examined him and said he was borderline but the procedure is small so they felt comfortable moving forward. They said they would give him less gas and more pain meds through needle (numbing). Of course during the examination, they kept giving each other looks when he would cough and said "He's getting worse right in front of us". Saying that doesn't worry me at all (sarcasms)! The procedure was quick and he was alsleep when we came back to the recovery room. He still had his mask on. I hate seeing that sight. Tubes. IV. Mask. It all reminds me too much of Logan's stay in the hospital for his fever of unknown origin. That was a really rough time for our family. The surgery site wasn't that bad at all and he wasn't as fussy as I thought after.

IV was on his feet :(

He loves to watch his brothers play. If they come close enough, he'll grab them screaming and babbling in excitement.
